The Edmund Fitzgerald

If you were around in the 1970's you no doubt remember the Gordon Lightfoot song about the wreck of this massive ore carrier on Lake Superior in November of 1975. Because the ship was one of the largest of it's day to traverse the waters of the great lakes, as well as the dramatic and sudden sinking with all 29 crew on board, memorabilia from the Edmund Fitzgerald is still popular, it seems.

I'm always reminded of that episode of Seinfeld, when Jerry and Elaine talk about the song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Elaine mistakenly thinks that Edmund Fitzgerald wrote the song and that Gordon Lightfoot was the ship that sunk. Jerry then quips sarchastically that perhaps "it was rammed by the Cat Stevens." :-)
